How difficult is it to get into Georgia Tech?
Georgia Tech is a very selective university, and should be considered a high reach school for all applicants. Of the 52,377 students who applied to Georgia Tech in the fall of 2023, only 8,622 were accepted, yielding a 16.46% acceptance rate.
If you hope to apply, know that first-year applicants to Georgia Tech are reviewed in a selective, holistic admission process. The application review includes consideration of the following factors:

What is the campus like at Georgia Tech?
Georgia Tech’s 400 wooded acre campus is located in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. Though Georgia Tech is located in a big city, it has a traditional college campus. The combination allows students access to the best of both worlds; a city bustling with industry and culture and the tight-knit community afforded by a college campus. Atlanta is the capital city of Georgia, and has many green spaces and parks, including Centennial Olympic Park, Piedmont Park, and the Atlanta BeltLine.
Students at Georgia Tech can explore their interests and become active members of the campus community by joining a plethora of student clubs, sports, and research opportunities. Students have the opportunity to join one of nearly 600 registered student organizations, including academic clubs, clubs sports, acapella and other music groups, and many more. Twenty-five percent of Georgia Tech students join one of over 50 fraternities and sororities. The Yellow Jackets compete in 17 men’s and women’s Division 1 sports, and many students spend their weekends cheering on their football team at the Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Ninety-seven percent of first year students choose to live on Georgia Tech’s campus. Students can live in traditional housing or apply to one of six Living Learning Communities, including The Honors Program, Global Leadership, Explore and First-Year Semester Abroad, designed for students who want to explore a certain interest through academic and extracurricular programming with like-minded peers.
Georgia Tech dining offers several meal plans with a variety of options for convenient, flexible dining and snacking. There are twenty on campus dining options and three all you can eat dining halls which offer a wide variety of cuisines, including vegan and vegetarian dishes.

Georgia Tech has a diverse student body. In the fall of 2023, the undergraduate class had 19,505 students, and was composed of 1,726 or 8.8% international students, 1,600 or 8.2% Hispanic or Latino students, 1,559 or 8.2% Black or African American students, 6,851 or 35% white students, and 6,629 or 34% Asian students.
What is Georgia Tech known for?
In 2023, Georgia Tech was awarded more than $1.45 billion to help address critical challenges in computing, engineering, design, the sciences, liberal arts, business, and other areas. The institution’s faculty, students, and researchers work together to push the boundaries of science and technology every day, aiming to innovate solutions to society’s most pressing problems.
Beyond highly-ranked academics and prolific research opportunities, Georgia Tech’s cooperative education program is the largest voluntary co-op program in the U.S.. Engineering majors at Tech can elect to use their disciplinary knowledge in the workplace for three alternating semesters, typically with the same employer over the course of their co-op program. How do I apply to Georgia Tech?
Georgia Tech offers both Early Action and Regular Decision application options. There is an Early Action 1 deadline for Georgia students (October 16th, 2024) and an Early Action 2 deadline for non-Georgia students (November 1st, 2024). Students applying in the Regular Decision cycle must do so by January 4th, 2025.

What are Georgia Tech’s core curriculum and programs?
Georgia Tech offers 39 majors and 66 minors through its six colleges focusing on Business, Computing, Design, Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Sciences. The six schools are Scheller College of Business, College of Computing, College of Design, College of Engineering, Ivan College of Liberal Arts, and the College of Sciences.
Georgia Tech core curriculum is specifically designed to produce students who “appreciate technology, society, and their interaction and…utilize [their] talents to substantially impact the future as leaders and lifelong learners,” and who can think critically, collaborate with others. As such, students must meet learning goals in communication, humanities, the fine arts and ethics, and social sciences in addition to those that lie within quantitative STEM fields.
