Admissions at UT Austin are moderately competitive, and the difficulty level can vary depending on several factors, including the applicant’s residency status and the specific program they are applying to. For the Class of 2027, 19,253 out of the 66,109 applicants were accepted, yielding a 29% acceptance rate. The out-of-state acceptance rate was 11.8% (2,482 out of 21,103 were accepted), while the acceptance rate for in-state applicants was significantly higher at 41% (15,974 out of 38,985 were accepted).

How do I apply to UT Austin?
UT Austin offers Early Action and Regular Decision application paths. Applications open August 1, and RD applications are due December 1st, while EA applications are due October 15th.

UT Austin’s athletic department is known for its competitive teams and strong school spirit. The Texas Longhorns, the university’s athletic teams, compete in the NCAA Division I and are part of the Big 12 Conference, and the school has secured 62 NCAA championships since 1949. UT Austin offers over 170 undergraduate fields of study across 13 colleges and schools. Every undergraduate student’s degree plan must fulfill the core curriculum and Flag components. The 42-hour Core Curriculum includes coursework in English composition, literature, government, history, social sciences, mathematics, natural sciences and technology, and visual and performing arts.
