When should my student start college counseling?
Command Education recommends starting college counseling and mentorship in 9th grade, and some students start even earlier, since our consulting approach works best with time to build real momentum. That said, we work with students at every stage of high school, including those who come to us later.
Is junior year too late to start college counseling and mentorship?
No, junior year is not too late to start with Command Education. In fact, that’s when our college consulting support often accelerates, with leadership development, testing strategy, and early application groundwork all picking up around this time.
How often do students and college counseling mentors meet?
Command Education’s college counseling mentorship model isn’t built around fixed sessions. Instead, we offer holistic support on an unlimited basis, ensuring that students receive the support they need, when they need it. Students and consultants meet as often as they need to, whether that’s a regular weekly cadence or a quick message before a deadline.
Who will my child work with?
Every Command Education student is matched with a dedicated, full-time Ivy League admissions consultant—what we call a near-peer mentor—chosen for their high emotional intelligence, exceptional credentials, personality, goals, and interests, backed by our full team of specialists.
What if my student doesn't have a "passion" yet?
Command Education mentors specialize in helping students discover and develop genuine interests during the college counseling and mentorship journey, not manufacture one to fit an application. Not having a defined passion yet is common. That’s exactly where our college consulting support starts.
Do you work with students outside the U.S.?
Yes! Command Education regularly works with families based outside the U.S. Our model runs primarily through Zoom, phone, and ongoing messaging, so students get the same level of college consulting and mentor support no matter where they’re located.
Do you offer ACT/SAT test prep?
Yes! Command Education has an in-house team of tutors and test prep experts who work alongside mentors to help students set and reach their goal scores, based on their college list. Like our mentorship program, our tutoring is student-centered, addressing learning gaps, test-taking anxiety, study habits, and academic skill building to set students up for success on standardized tests and in their continuing academic journey.
What does the investment look like?
Investment varies by student, since every engagement is personalized to your student’s stage and the scope of support they need. Multi-year engagements beginning in middle or early high school are typically in the high five-figures annually, which can include comprehensive ACT/SAT test prep alongside ongoing college counseling mentorship. Over the full length of a multi-year engagement, total investment is six figures, reflecting years of consistent, weekly support across the full arc of a student’s development.
Regardless of program length, the investment you agree to at the outset is the investment you’ll make. There is no second invoice for extra hours, additional essay rounds, test prep, or last-minute interview prep. For most families, this is one of the most significant investments they will make in their child’s future: a partnership that prepares their student not only to gain admission to their dream school, but to thrive in the next phase of their life.
